Checks for the Project Board, independently of the Project Manager, that the project is run properly and the business case, user needs and supplier standards still hold. Safety and compliance assurance stays with the Safety and Compliance Lead.

Boards need an independent view, not only the Project Manager’s report, before they approve a stage.
